Official web pages include the main site of Buffalo State; academic department, center, and program sites; and administrative office and support unit pages. In general, official web pages relate to sites for which programming is funded, staffed, and supported by Buffalo State.

- Appropriate, current content designed for target audiences. Content must not violate state
or federal law or any college policy; feature obscene, harassing, or discriminatory content; or
contain any other inappropriate information.
- Current program and course information as reflected in the college’s online catalogs.
- Current personnel listings as reflected in the Human Resource Management database.
To ensure accuracy of messaging, as well as strong, consistent, and professionally presented graphics and imagery, content residing on official Buffalo State web servers may be changed at any time by the Marketing and Communications Office.
Primary Web Contacts (PWCs) are required to regularly review and update web pages. Content that is no longer relevant or current must be updated or deleted from buffalostate.edu sites. Sites must be reviewed by the PWC for timeliness and accuracy at least once per semester.
Sites regularly found to be out of date will be referred to the Marketing and Communications Office for review, and a plan and timeframe for bringing the site up to date will be developed.
Consistent documented failure to update websites will result in the removal of PWC administrative access. Sites that are not updated within one academic year will be automatically shut down. The Marketing and Communications Office may take over or shut down any Buffalo State site that includes an unprofessional presentation, demonstrates consistently low traffic, or does not meet the strategic goals of the institution.
Affiliated web pages are independent web presences established for select Buffalo State programs and facilities. They may or may not be included within the college’s content management system.
Affiliated pages may be included within the college’s installation of Drupal provided the pages adhere to the communication standards for official pages. Vendor-created site designs must be approved in advance by Marketing and Communications. Please consult with the Marketing and Communications Office early in your process, as any work completed by a vendor must be approved by the Marketing and Communications Office before it can be included within the campus installation of Drupal.
Upon request, affiliated pages may use Buffalo State’s branded web header (including main site navigation), footer, and social media icon pack. Samples below.
Affiliated pages outside the campus Drupal installation can be provided with a branded header and footer (samples below), which would be included at the top and bottom of every page of the site.
Unofficial web pages include personal pages for faculty, staff, and students and websites for student organizations.
If pages reside on a campus server, content must not violate state or federal law or any college policy, or feature obscene, harassing, or discriminatory content.
Pages residing on campus servers must meet section 508 accessibility standards.
