Internal communication vehicles—the Daily Bulletin and campuswide e-mail—are designed primarily for college faculty and staff members. Friends of the college may also subscribe to the Daily Bulletin.
The Daily Bulletin is Buffalo State College’s electronic newsletter containing official announcements, news and events, curricular items, faculty and staff achievements, and other information of importance to the campus community. Providing a centralized source for campus information, the Daily Bulletin is distributed via the campus Listserv at 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday excluding holidays and breaks. Items must be submitted by 2:00 p.m. for publication the next business day.
Submissions for the Daily Bulletin should generally adhere to these guidelines:
Events should (1) take place on campus; (2) be sponsored by Buffalo State or largely involve Buffalo State faculty members, staff members, or student groups; or (3) support the college mission, strategic plan, or professional development of faculty and staff. The Daily Bulletin is not used to promote events taking place in the general community, regardless of their merit. Readers are encouraged to spread the word about community events in other ways.
The following items are not appropriate for inclusion in the Daily Bulletin:
The college reserves the right to decline to publish submissions that do not meet these guidelines. Submissions are subject to editing.
The complete editorial policy and additional guidelines are available at About the Daily Bulletin.

Buffalo State generally does not allow mass e-mailing to faculty and staff. The e-mail distribution list for faculty and staff is not available for general use. It is used for emergency communications by the president, provost, and vice presidents or their designees to convey critical information to the campus, such as news about the campus network or infrastructure, campus operations, or the death of a colleague. The Marketing and Communications Office works with the President’s Office and vice presidents and their staff members in determining e-mail communication. The Daily Bulletin is the primary vehicle for mass communication to faculty and staff.
The Marketing and Communications Office sends official notices, called “In Memoriam,” via the Daily Bulletin upon learning of the deaths of retired faculty or staff members. These brief notices are sent only when the Marketing and Communications Office receives word in a timely* fashion that a retiree** has passed away. Campuswide e-mail may be used to inform faculty and staff of the passing of a current employee. Notices are not generally sent for relatives of employees, employees who resigned from the college, or alumni.
* within three months of the death or memorial service
** official retirement from the college, whether by choice or by reason of disability
